Walnut Halves are an edible seed of the nuts which grow on the Juglans Regia tree, originating in India.
Walnut Halves are a source of essential fatty acids (in the form of Alpha Linoleic Acid (ALA). One benefit of walnuts is that they’ve been shown to contribute to the improvement of the elasticity of the blood vessels.
Walnut Halves are also rich in many minerals, including Manganese, Copper, Molybdenum, Biotin, Calcium, Iron, Chromium, Phosphorus, Magnesium, Potassium, Selenium and Zinc. In terms of phytonutrients, Walnut Halves contain Phenolic Acids, Tannins and Flavonoids. A large proportion of these phytonutrients are actually found in the skin. Interestingly, the Vitamin E content of Walnut Halves is the Gamma-Tocopherol form, whereas most foods typically contain Alpha-Tocopherol.
